Symptoms of wrong fuel in a diesel engine follow a predictable sequence of events depending on whether the engine was started and how long it ran. Each symptom tells you something very specific about how far the contamination has spread and what that means for the extent of the damage. At Wrong Fuel Help Australia…
Wrong fuel can cause lasting engine damage, but the severity depends on which parts were exposed and for how long. Most misfuelling incidents cause no permanent damage at all and are detected before the engine is started. If you burn the wrong fuel for too long and you are caught , even quick professional help…
The number one rule for any misfuelling incident is the same as putting the wrong fuel in a hire car or fleet vehicle: switch the ignition off immediately. Other issues include who to contact first, what your liability is under the rental or fleet agreement and how to properly document the incident before the vehicle…
Misfuelling damage is not covered by the manufacturer warranty, as the warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, not driver error. Your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law apply automatically no matter where the work is done. Having the contaminated fuel professionally drained by an independent specialist does not affect your rights. What a…
You can’t drain the wrong fuel yourself with standard equipment on most cars built in the last two decades. Modern fuel tanks are installed without a drain plug, anti-siphon valves prevent access to the hose, contaminated fuel cannot be legally disposed of and incomplete drainage leaves enough wrong fuel in the tank to cause engine…

Most vehicles can be drained without lasting damage if caught at the pump. Put petrol in the tank of a common rail…
Towing seems to be the obvious move after a misfuel mainly because most people associate that with car trouble. The thing is that towing was designed for mechanical breakdowns, not fuel mix ups and it adds steps that a wrong fuel situation doesn’t really need. You get taken to a workshop by a tow truck,…
A mobile fuel drainer employs a sealed pump unit to empty the contents of your tank, drawing the contaminated fuel out via the fuel line or filler neck, eliminating the need to remove the tank. The technician then flushes the remaining lines and filter, adds the correct fuel and checks that the engine runs clean….
The company you call is only as good as your fuel decision, but the cost of a bad one is set in the first few minutes. But the biggest thing is how long it ran on the wrong fuel before anyone caught on. A car that won’t run is just a plain washbasin and flush….
A fuel drain, or pump-out, uses a sealed pump to remove the contaminated fuel from the tank without the need to remove or drop the tank. When that tank is empty the technician will flush the other lines and the filter because there is likely still some fuel left in those when the main tank…
