1. Leave the Engine Off
This is the biggie. If you haven’t run the car up, you still have the wrong fuel in the tank. That is a fuel problem, not an engine problem. Many modern cars prime the fuel pump just by turning the ignition on, so leave the key out and don’t touch the start button.
2. Get the Car Somewhere Safe
If you’re still at the bowser, tell the attendant. Have someone put the car in neutral and push it away from the pumps with a hand. Don’t even start it up just to move it a few meters.
3. Tell Us What Happened
